Escalation: Donald Trump pledges to campaign in about three dozen races

Sep 3, 2026

At a Rose Garden dinner on Wednesday, Donald Trump pledged to personally campaign in roughly three dozen battleground races that could decide control of Congress.

He urged Republicans in tough reelection fights to run on his White House record despite his sagging popularity. He said he would visit each of those contests in the final stretch.

The pledge commits him to a nationwide push and puts his record at the center of those campaigns. Candidates in those races can now plan for direct appearances and support from him.
