New Facts: Trump Claims All Mines Cleared From Strait
Donald Trump said the U.S. Navy has removed or detonated all mines in the Strait of Hormuz. “Iran has been notified that any ship or boat placing new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed,” he wrote.
The strait is a vital waterway for global oil shipments and has been largely closed during the war, causing sharp swings in oil prices. The U.S. now says the existing mine threat there is gone and warns it will destroy any vessel that tries to lay new mines.
